They weren't really classified as vampires, even if they did have similarities. They drank blood, and were weak to silver and UV light, but apparently they were still living and fire had no effect on them.

I don't really know for sure if everything is in order, though, so it's safest if we go out while it's still light out. These things usually last a week but it's not good to rely on that.
