Oh wow..

This is not my apartment. Oh no, what did I do last night? If this is one of Fawkes's jokes, it really isn't funny.

[dead silence for about a minute while she looks out the window]

It-It's finally happened. I'm in The Game.

[looks down at herself] Then why do I still look like me and not Codex? [sees the journal] And why are you transcibing everything I say? You're doing it now! Stop!

[OH WOW IT'S LIKE HEARING A RECORDING OF HERSELF

Excuse her for a moment while she drops the journal and has to pick it back up before speaking. You can totally hear the thud too.]

Um, hello?

[Hand over her mouth, she looks at the book. Now there's a voice coming out of it that sounds like her. This is so confusing.]

[Maybe she's not really in The Game. Maybe she's gone crazy.]

[Oh no..is she talking to Codex? But she's Codex, right? Maybe this really is insanity confused voice]

Oh! Whew, okay good. I'm Penny. Sorry, didn't mean for that to be such a weird question, it's just, the castle does freaky stuff like that sometimes.

[sounds incredibly relieved! Because yes. Agreement with both those last sentiments.]

[Here, have a relieved Codex too. Very much so. Now she can be excited about her new situation...living The Game, or so she thinks.]

I'm Cyd, er Codex. [She is in the Game after all.] How long have you been playing here?

Penny? Are you alright?

[Penny? That's the other person..the one with her voice, right?]

Um, no. Actually I'm Codex. But I sound just about exactly like Penny so I can see why you'd be confused. [So is she, but now she's trying not to be so embarrasingly obvious about it.]

Oh, uh, I'm 7. [Still trying to wrap her head around this 'sounds like Penny but isn't' bit, thinking it might actually be a Loss.] I know Penny. [Okay, well, that's obvious.]

[paaaaause,] Are you new here?

Oh! That's right, you just arrived, didn't you? I've afraid I'm not doing a very good job of introductions...

Um, okay. This is going to sound really, really weird and for a lot time I thought I was dreaming but, y'know, since I haven't woken up yet it kind of shoots down that theory, but... Well, we're in a magic castle. That kidnaps people.

[Trying briefly to keep from laughing, and barely succeeding. Of course they're in a magical castle. It's The Game.]

The Game is full of magic, of course the castles would have it too.

7..what an interesting name.

When I play the Game at home, I was a level 70. But since I'm actually inside it now, I guess that makes me a noob.

[What a waste of awesome loot. As she thinks of the Game, her clothes change to match Codex's in-game] Or maybe not. How do you check stats?

Well, that does make more sense than the dream theory.

Game? What game? One of the ones on CastleNet? You'd have to ask York, he'd know.

[Wait a second..something's not right here.]

You don't play the Game? If you don't play the Game, then how are you inside of it with me?

[The name York sounds almost familiar, but not quite right. The more she tries to think about it the harder it is to remember.]

I don't think that's the developer. [Starting to get not such a good feeling about this]

Yes, it's the Castle's internet system, I think. I don't really use it, but York's on there a lot, and I know he and Delta are pretty good at the games.

Developer? I don't think it's York. I don't know who made it. [These are all sorts of weird questions, you must be a newbie. Or still Penny-on-a-Loss. 7 hasn't ruled out that possibility yet.]

[But why would the game need an Internet system in-game? That doesn't make any sense. Decides to awkwardly change the subject]

[and that's a good question, have a pause] Do you have to know about the game to be in it? Cause there are some people who come from places where they don't even have computers.

[is... actually giving this some serious thought!]

[Oh, nothing awkward about subject changes! 7's been abusing THAT tactic for a while!]

[Pauses while she counts. And recounts. Has it REALLY been that long??] Ten months.

[pinches herself -hard-, nothing changes] Ow.

You usually do, but I don't have a computer with me, and I'm here. [starts pacing back and forth]

The only way to be sure would be to explore. If I don't see anything I recognize, then I guess I'm not in the Game after all.

[Logic, that's good in this situation.] I guess I could also try to find my guildmates, since they're bound to show up. [frustrated sigh] If only I could remember details about them.

Wow. That's a long time.

Oh! I could give you the tour if you'd like. Do you know what room you're in?

And the journals work like two way radios. If you made filters to your friends, I'm sure they'll answer if they're here.

[A tour seems like a very good idea. Get out and explore. So far all she's seen is the room she appeared in.]
