011 Locks Picked
[After one and a half weeks being human, someone is very happy to be back to their nimble-fingered self. To celebrate, Tas decided to devote himself to re-exploring the castle… and no place is sacred. Kitchen cabinets, lockers, rooms. There’s no telling what might have changed since the last time he went wandering. So, horn-rimmed glasses on his nose (having relocated them in one of his pouches), he’s making his rounds. He wasn’t really intending on intruding… just taking a peek… but with all the interesting people around here it was only a matter of time before something in the rooms caught his attention.]
[Room 607 just happens to be one of those rooms. The trap on the door catches his eye just before he triggers it. Careful hands dismantle it, laying the pieces out neatly in case the owner wants to put it all back together again, but now it begs the question. What’s in here that’s worth booby trapping? And there must be something because, wandering further in, everything has a trap. The closet. The drawers. And Tas, intrigued, systematically makes his way around, disabling any he finds…forgetting that this might be a little upsetting to the trap-setter.
He’s working on a particularly difficult, spring loaded setup in one of the desk drawers when his foot slides just a bit to the side, off of one tile and onto the next. Click–and Tas freezes, waiting for the fallout. Only nothing happens. Frowning, he steps off the tile, and then back on. Step, click, silence. So… maybe… it wasn’t a trap at all. Perhaps this trigger was for something else? Like a hidden door. He was sure he’d seen the gnomes make things like that, and wouldn’t that be amazing to find!
Forgetting the drawer, he moves away to go to the walls, running fingers lightly over the stones in search of any new openings.
Ten feet from the tile. Twenty. Twenty five…]
[And, suddenly, the 6th floor hallways is rocked by an explosion, smoke billowing out from Reno’s door. There’s a crash as something falls… and silence. Do you dare to investigate?]

[glances at Natsuki. Was this guy for real?]

What caused the explosion?

There was a trap... I think it might have been under one of the floor tiles because I heard a noise... expect it didn't go off right away. And it sounded like it should have been the kind of trap that wouldn't have a delay. I should know... I've heard a lot of them while traveling with Tanis and you learn pretty quick what kinds of traps sound like what. [a bit shame-faced] Of course, I probably shouldn't have heard it at all, but I really thought I'd disabled all of the ones around me.

...A trap? In someone's room?

Narrows eyes. Not entirely too friendly to the idea of people breaking into other people's rooms, aha.]

Yeah, all over the place. I don't know if I've ever seen so many traps in one spot... and there wasn't even anything interesting inside. Well, the traps were interesting. It was a bit like the party my third cousin twice removed threw when he got back from visiting the dwarven kingdoms. There were all kinds of locks to pick, and even a few sting traps which were really quite harmless, but good practice.

Why were you in someone else's room??

Half wondering if he'll try to lie via sheer volume of words.]

But it still can't hurt to look around and try to understand our surroundings as much as possible. Only then there were these dangerous traps and I was afraid someone would get hurt, and I thought I'd disabled them, but I must have missed one because it went off...
Really, with how many were in there, we're lucky it wasn't worse.

They probably set up the traps to keep people out of their room.
[memo to self: get inconspicuous traps]

And the traps were pretty far into the room. Really, if he wasn't careful, he could have blown himself up. I might have saved him from accidentally getting hurt!
