[ backdated to a bit earlier ]

[ since arriving, there was at least one thing different about her room here versus the one in Camelot's town. and that? was a very comfortable bed. on this morning, she had actually slept in a bit longer than she meant to so in her hurry to get out of bed, she accidentally bumps into someone ]

Forgive me, I-

[ .. someone else was here? still shaking off that groggy feeling, she sits up and glances down at the sleeping person beside her. .. no, not person, but persons! there was a small boy curled up in the middle of the bed with a very, for the lack of a better phrase, beautiful young man. unfortunately, this was her room and she hadn't a clue how they both ended up here ]

I shouldn't wake them...

[ still, she's going to be as quiet as she can as she attempts to get out of bed without disturbing the other two ]

[ but!! Ganymede has probably spent so long sleeping alone that he has built in 'YOU HAVE COMPANY' radar, and the minute she tries to move, he stirs. ]

Huh...?

[ well, she certainly wasn't counting on that. she pauses, looking a tad apologetic about the situation despite the fact that he's kind of the one in her room ]

I didn't mean to wake you, I think this might have something to do with the castle.

[ he blinks his eyes open and sits up suddenly, having expected the other person to be Apollo or something creepy along those lines. But that was definitely a girl's voice. ]

Who... Who are you?! How did you get in h-- [ but this isn't the room that he was originally given. he should know, he rarely leaves it ] The castle....?

The castle occasionally does strange things.

[ and this? could definitely be chalked up to very strange. she speaks up again but this time it's in a hushed tone, because that child sleeping next to you Ganymede? looks like he needs the rest ]

My name is Guinevere.

[ he just huffs at the castle and everything in it before he considers speaking again ]

... Guinevere is a nice name. I am Ganymede, and I--- [ only now does he notice the child ] ...What is this?

[ baw, that makes her smile a little. the name thing, not so much the confusing child ]

I was going to ask you the same, I've never seen this child before. But he looks very peaceful, I don't want to wake him.

[ he looks down at it. well it is a pretty child, he'll give it that, but he quickly scrambles away from it anyway. YES. "IT". ]

It's not mine...

[ she scoots over and carefully moves to cover the boy up with a blanket. she's a maid, man, she's got this ]

Maybe, once he's rested, we can talk to him and figure out why he's here.

[ good thing, too, because ganymede is just looking disturbed. do you know how many years it's been since he's been in prolonged company with a female... let alone a babby ]

But I don't even know you... I can't just stay here. [ looking around like he thinks someone might show up laughing any minute ] Is this a game?

You don't have to stay, I'm sure we'll find his parents sooner or..

[ as if on perfect cue, the boy opens his eyes and they're Ganymede's eyes, a bright blue. he looks between the two of them and moves to promptly cling to his papa's waist ]

[ and now he's trying to cling to his mother as well, it isn't working out well despite her managing to take his hand ] Mother? Oh, no, I couldn't be a mother! I'm sorry, but I think there has been a mistake..

[ Ganymede freezes instantly when the kid clings to him. Awkward contact, aaaah ]

F... father. I'm not your father!! I don't even--- Let go of me!

[ it doesn't look like he's going to let go anytime soon, either. she reaches over to try and de-cling the boy and ends up with an armload of kid herself.

but instead of flailing, she just kind of.. awkwardly stares down at the boy. ganymede, you're getting baby puppy eyes now ]

This..

[ is extremely awkward, person I only met five minutes ago. she closes her mouth and opts to look elsewhere. obviously something was amiss here but that didn't make the circumstances any less strange ]

It must be the castle.

[ Once the boy puts more attention in Gwen, Ganymede kind of squirms away. Those puppy eyes are met with a very dull and disapproving glare, and a huff. ]

If it's the castle, doesn't that mean there's nothing we can do about it? I don't want to play this creepy game.

What does it expect us to do? I don't know how to take care of children.

[ that glare? is met by a very disapproving glance in return, don't glare at the baby. it's not his fault ]

Yes, you're right. But I'm not going to abandon him, even if it is a 'creepy game.' No one deserves that.

We'll have to care for him. I don't either, but I'm sure we'll manage. I'm sure several people are finding themselves in similar situations right now.

[ Ganymede doesn't care how she looks at him, ha. But... he frowns in a different way when she mentions being abandoned. gah, grumpy and pessmistic as he is, he wouldn't wish that on someone ]

... Fine.

[ that earns a small smile. he was a little fussy but from experience, she knows it isn't fair to judge a book by its cover and his reply was proof enough of that ]

[ a little pause. this was awkward, wasn't it? the child she's holding shifts a little and stares over at Ganymede. Father, why aren't you smiling? ]

[ yes, yes it was very awkward. Ganymede is looking down at the boy kind of blankly. He probably doesn't even remember how to smile ]

He does kind of look like you.

[ he tentatively reaches out to pat the boy on the head. half because he doesn't know what else to do and have because he almost wants to double check that he's really there ]

[ don't let her know that, it'll become her mission to make him remember how ]

And.. you. Your eyes, I mean. I've never seen such blue eyes.

[ yeah, she's just going to shut up now. the boy seems to perk up a little and with a somewhat goofy smile, moves to catch his hand between both of his ]

[ he won't! not ever. ]

...I suppose so. I wouldn't really know.

[ he pauses at that little move from the boy and just..stares a bit wide eyed at him. Ahhh what does he do-- so he just sits there like that. ]

[ she watches the pair in silence for a moment before she shifts a little, offering the boy to him ]

If you wouldn't mind it, I think he'd like you to hold him.

... [ he looks mildly affronted by the idea. holding him...? ] But I don't know how to-- [ despite himself he has his arms held out. like he's afraid the kid would just drop if he didn't ]

You won't drop him.

[ a bit of reassurance before she carefully places him in his arms ]

... [ frowns a little and awkwardly holds the child... a little bit away from himself still like he's holding an object and not a person ]

[ it's a child, not a plague! ryne takes the initiative and moves a little closer to him, trying to wrap his arms around his neck. she takes a seat on the end of the bed, smiling.

you're doing good, ganymede! but she's here to take him away if need be ]

..Hey! [ he is so. so awkward about that. But he has to remember this is like..supposed to be his kid. He was going to be an uncle eventually...this is similar right?? Right? ]

..... [ nope, nope he still feels really awkward about holding this kid ]
