Regarding the Presence of Doubles in Paradisa
a report by Claire Saunders
After speaking with many individuals concerning this issue, as well as extensive research, I have come to a conclusion in regards to the existence of what I have dubbed “doubles”. For those who may be unaware of this term, allow me to take a moment to define it. A “double” as I see it is a person or number of persons who share physical similarities but are from different worlds.
Many people in Cair Paradisa wish to dismiss such phenomenon as the result of magic. However, the existence of “doubles” can be explained in a much more solid and scientific fashion: the “doubles” are a result of the multiverse. In physics the idea of the multiverse consists of a number of theories.
The one I believe is represented here is the many-worlds interpretation. This theory believes that possible observations have different probabilities, and each possible observation results in a different universe. Take the example of flipping a coin. Two different universes exist: one where the coin came up heads and one where it came up tails. Or, if you wish to look at it philosophically, multiverse is the belief that all possible worlds exist and are real. Living in the castle is more than enough evidence to prove this idea is correct.
Going back to “doubles”, I believe that they are all from a different world where different probabilities were found to create that world. It could be that every single person in this castle has a “double” in a different world who has not yet arrived in the castle. Based on my discussion with people who have encountered “doubles”, I must conclude that the probabilities represented by these different worlds can at times be more drastic than others.
First I will discuss “alternates”, a type of double I have discovered where the same person exists in different versions of the same reality. When any person is born they have a multitude of possibilities laid out for them. Let us call this beginning “Person A”. An important crossroad in their life forces a choice, and now there also exists “Person B” who chose differently from “Person A”. These two may share memories or experiences but there is something essentially different between them, either in their experience or in the world around them.
The second type I have discovered I call “divides”. These doubles are not the same person, yet they share more than a physical similarity with each other. They could share similar histories or interests, or could come from similar backgrounds. These “divides” all usually come from the same planet (I.E. Earth) and from close to the same time period.
Thirdly there are the “dissimilars”. These are the doubles who are vastly different from each other. They have different histories and different memories; the only thing they share in common is their physical attributes.
Usually these different doubles exist in their own realities unaware of each other’s existence. Yet Paradisa has brought them all together to live in one place. These doubles were not meant to co-exist with one another. What power would bring all of these doubles together in one place, and for what purpose? That is still unclear though I will say that if you are aware of a double of yourself residing in the castle, it would be wise to learn about them. If nothing else then because they represent all the potential each world provides.

If you had to write this whole thing about it, there must be a lot of cases where it's happened, huh...

End of discussion, class dismissed, everyone gets an A.

Do you share physical similiarities or is it just your voice?
